Total hip and knee replacement surgery admissions spiked this year, following substantial increases over the previous five years. The report from the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare found an 8.9% increase in the number of hip replacements in 2015-16, compared with the previous year. Knee replacements were up 7.3% over same period.
